Throw in a hint of current-day franchise Monster High with a Tarantinoesque soundtrack and you’ve got a slot game that’s 100% Microgaming. Why? First off, the folks at Microgaming aren’t necessarily too big on the franchise names, despite the Dark Knight slots and Jurassic Park slots dotting their hundreds of titles – perhaps it has to do with the big slot game software producer’s legal battles with J.R.R. Tolkien’s estate over the failed Lord of the Rings slot, a game said to be the most expensive ever produced and was de-commissioned due to copyright issues. (Why pay licensing fees and percentage of profits when one can create an unbranded version recognizable and attractive to fans?)
Secondly, the Cool Wolf slot game is loaded with the sort of features Microgaming loves to include: The “243 Ways” feature, i.e. land a certain symbol anywhere in each of the first three reels and win, has just about become the default standard from ol’ MG.
How does Cool Wolf stack up against some of the other Canadian slots?
Cool Wolf also includes the cascade feature in which winning symbols are replaced by new ones “dropped” into place on the reels a la Candy Crush for the opportunity to win several times on a single spin; the fun is dampened slightly, however, when *all* the wild symbols – not merely those making up the actual wins – are removed along with the paying symbols.
Stacked wilds are in play here as well: On reels 3 through 5, these wilds may land in Cool Wolf, particularly helpful in that middle position at making up some nice wins. The Cool Wolf slot’s “Howling Wild” feature is a free spins bonus round in which the player is guaranteed expanding wilds on every spin in reels 2, 3 or 5.
Finally, there’s the top payout: At 105,000 coins, it’s positively, well, Microgaming-sized!
The Cool Wolf slot machine: 50s meet 80s in the 10s for a 1000% authentic online slots experience.
