With nostalgia the buzzword in Hollywood, who wouldn’t want to spend some time in retro Las Vegas? Amatic promises you this and more with this fruit-filled slot on a computer or mobile device. Hot Star is a 5-reel slot with 7 symbols and one wild that pays left to right.
You have ten lines to bet, with the smallest bet being 1 coin and the max bet at 50 per line. Wins begin at 3 symbols, with each extra doubling your return. The lone exception to this is the seven symbol, which quintuples your winnings at five of a kind!
Bonus features
Game Symbols
Hot Star also includes a wild star symbol that will sometimes pop up on the third or fourth reel. Like other wilds, it substitutes for any other symbol. What makes this wild unique is that it expands by changing all the surrounding symbols into wilds.
A well-placed wild can turn a single spin into a big win. Many four or five of a kind wins rack up depending on the first two reels. The excitement of seeing four sevens on one spin because it counted on two different lines is real. It is hard not to smile at that kind of good fortune!
Bonus rounds
Are you looking for a challenge? After every win, you can play a bonus game by clicking the flashing Gamble button. You start with a few choices to make: bet half or let it ride. Next, do you take a 50/50 shot at doubling your bet or the one in four chance of quadrupling? The bonus game itself reminds me a lot of roulette without the numbers.
For the 50/50, you choose whether the next card drawn is red or black like an outside bet. For the one in four, you decide which of the four suits will come up: hearts, diamonds, clubs, or spades. Your history on this game tracks and appears in the upper right part of the screen.
Hot Star Hits & Misses
All in all, this game is fun and reminds us of the more classic slots that made their first appearance on the strip in Vegas. It does have enough features to set it apart from the older games and modernize its retro feel.
